Our Promise To Young People
Safe Haven Services is a service about young people and we are committed to ensuring that all young people who live with us go on to achieve successful outcomes. We aim to develop relationships with young people that are positive and aimed at supporting them to develop internal resilience and a positive understanding of their potential and place in society.
At Safe Haven Services, we believe that young people who are ‘looked after in public care’ are most likely to flourish in smaller projects that resemble ordinary life. To this end, when a young person is first placed in semi-independent accommodation with Safe Haven Services we aim to keep the placements on a small scale and aim to encourage positive engagement to enable to achieve better outcomes within a short space of time.
- We will treat you with respect and dignity
- We will work with you and your social worker and other professionals involved in your care to ensure your stay with us is as comfortable as possible.
- During your stay with us, we will listen to you and if we disagree with your views and opinions we will take all responsible steps to explain why. If you are not happy with any aspect of the service you receive, you can complain by speaking to the Manager first who will endeavour to address your concerns.
- If you are not happy with the outcome you can then speak to one of the directors. We will attempt to deal with her complaint as quickly as possible.
- We will keep your information confidential at all times apart from when we feel that to do so would mean you or someone else may be in danger. We will share information with your social worker as agreed in your plan.
Our Expectations Of Young People
- It is the young person’s responsibility to maintain his / her own bedroom and keep it clean at all times.
- Young people are expected to treat others as well as members of staff with dignity and respect at all times. We will not tolerate any kind of harassment, bullying or discriminatory behaviour on the grounds of race, faith, sexuality, disability or any other reason.
- No abuse, physical or verbal will be tolerated and we will notify the police and press for prosecution in the event of any assault on staff or another young person.
- Young people are not allowed to have visitors in their room without permission from staff and we reserve the right to refuse this if we have concerns.
- Smoking of illegal substances or drinking is not permitted within the house. Smoking may only take place outside or in the garden. Under no circumstances is smoking permitted in the bedrooms.
- Young people must not cause deliberate damage to any other person’s property.
- Young people will return home before the curfew time agreed with their social workers and will let the staff know if they are going to be late in good time. Young people who do not return without notice will be reported as missing to the police.
- We expect young people to abide by our visitor’s policy.
- Overnight visitors are not permitted.
We expect all young people to abide by the above rules as they are in place to safeguard them and other residents from harm. Failing to do so could result in the loss of their placement.
